Rigorous International Procedures

Global Compliance, EUDR & Environmental Stewardship

Every bag exported by Rovil meets the statutory frameworks of Europe, North America, and East Asia.

EUDR GPS Polygon Mapping

Every participating farm plot has documented GPS boundary polygon coordinates confirming zero deforestation after December 31, 2020.

Native Shade Canopy

Coffee trees are cultivated under indigenous African shade trees (Grevillea robusta, Cordia africana) to moderate equatorial sun and support biodiversity.

Mountain Water Protection

Our wet mills utilize eco-pulpers reducing water usage by 65%. Runoff passes through vetiver grass filtration lagoons protecting local rivers.

Zero Harmful Runoff

Adherence to strict Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) required by the EU and Japan Food Sanitation Act, utilizing organic compost for soil replenishment.

Agronomic Methodology

The 6-Stage Farm & Processing Cycle

From fertile volcanic soil through traditional 72-hour double-fermentation and sun-drying on raised African tables.

01Year-Round Agricultural Cycle

Cultivate & Nurture

Central Kenya Highlands (1,700m – 2,100m ASL)

High-altitude microclimates, deep red volcanic soils, and consistent equatorial rainfall create dense cherry growth and concentrated sugars.

Volcanic loam rich in potassium and phosphorus
Shade-grown under indigenous canopy trees to regulate cherry maturation
Continuous agronomic monitoring for optimal cherry health
02Main Crop: Oct – Dec | Fly Crop: May – July

Selective Hand Harvest

Estate Plots & Partner Outgrower Shambas

Harvesting is exclusively performed by experienced pickers who select only fully ripened crimson-red cherries, passing through each tree multiple times per season.

Strict elimination of green, under-ripe, or insect-damaged cherries
Daily sorting at the collection weighing station prior to wet pulping
Brix refractometer sugar monitoring for peak flavor density
03Same-Day Pulping (Within 8 hours of harvest)

Wet Milling & Fermentation

Certified Washing Station (Wet Mill)

Fresh mountain river water powers eco-pulpers before undergoing traditional Kenyan double-fermentation (12–24h dry + 12h clean soak), developing iconic citric vibrance.

Eco-efficient disc pulpers with minimal water consumption
Traditional washing channels for density separation of sinkers vs floaters
Clean spring water soak for final mucilage clarification
0414 – 21 Days of Controlled Sun Drying

Sun-Drying & Mechanical Grading

Raised African Drying Beds & Dry Mill

Parchment is spread on ventilated raised hessian beds under natural African sunlight, turned hourly until stabilized at an optimal 10.5% – 11.5% moisture content.

Regular moisture meter testing using certified DICKEY-john / Gehaka units
Hulling and screen sizing through rotary perforations (Screen 18/17/16/15)
Gravity table separation to segregate beans by specific density
05Pre-Shipment Quality Protocol

Lab Cupping & Hermetic Packaging

Quality Control Laboratory, Nairobi

Every batch undergoes rigorous SCA cupping evaluation by licensed Q-graders. Upon certification, beans are packed into GrainPro hermetic protective liners inside 60kg export sisal bags.
